As part of the release of ‘A Poetic Proposal’ I am going to feature a poem from the book, dedicated to Ionia, each day as a taster of the poetry you can experience inside.
This poem works as a companion piece to ‘When I say Your Name’ featured in the first of this series of posts. I hope you enjoy it.
When you say my name
When you say my name,
My heart it skips a beat,
It fills my soul with joy,
It makes me feel complete.
When you say my name,
It takes my breath away,
Makes me believe in god,
And like I ought to pray.
When you say my name,
Whether Julian or Jules,
I know for you I’d break,
All the senseless rules.
When you say my name,
In your special way,
I know I want to be,
Right there, with you to stay.
When you say my name,
And I tell you, ‘I love you’,
I look towards that perfect day,
When we both shall say ‘I do’
The book is available here and comes in both digital and paperback format. Stocking fillers! Don’t forget.
Another lovely one! I remember you and Ionia bantering back and forth over this one 🙂

Thank you. The banter is all part of the fun. I know many people prefer watching the banter to the posts 🙂

I liked when Ionia called you Englishman. Usually, the context made me laugh out loud.

I like it too. She calls me Englishman, Fucking Englishman, English Muffin – I love them all.
