Up Above

Suspended in the air,
An overarching view
Of beauty most fair,
To enter into

An old arched bridge,
Spanning a patchwork path,
A protective rail,
A merry laugh.

A watery artery,
Meanders past undulant slopes,
An exhilarating sight,
Feeding our dreams and hopes.

A forest of firs,
A vibrant firework display,
Red, green and gold,
Soothes our minds melee.

And down below,
Azaleas bloom,
Touching the banks,
With intense perfume.

Stress Relief

Stress is a natural part of daily life in the modern world. From the trials and tribulations of the world at large, the idiot that cuts into line at the store, to the moron that cuts you up at the intersection. There is no avoiding it. It pervades everything we do.

So what do we do about it? How do we deal with this feeling that can gnaw at us until it drives us crazy?

There are a multitude of accepted techniques for dealing with stress such as a beer after work, chain smoking, relaxing with your other half, exercise, meditation, yoga. The list is endless. But what works for one, may not work for another.

How do you deal with the rigours of life, the stresses that get to you?

One newly accepted method is that of adult coloring. Not the coloring we all did as kids, or continue to do with our own kids, but a different kind of coloring. Adult coloring. Pictures and patterns that are more challenging for the adult. Those that stretch us, and in my case, often the ability to see without a magnification aid.

What do they do? How do they help?

Adult coloring books stretch and challenge our minds and abilities. They allow us to perform a physical task, whilst our subconscious minds to wander, whilst our conscious minds work on color selection, patterns, symmetry, and yes, staying inside the lines too. Always important whatever your age.

So, how about you tell me how you deal with the stress in your life, and maybe give adult coloring a try.

Here is a good place to start. I will even make things easy for you and provide links for whether you are in the US or the UK. You cannot ask for more than that.

Give it a go.

Nope, not a typo.

A couple things to cover. First of all, I can’t stop thanking people for all they have done for me since releasing my book last week. Carmen Stefanescu rocked my world this morning with her awesome and unexpected promo on her site, which you can find here. http://shadowspastmystery.blogspot.ro/2015/07/guest-promo-ci-ionia-martin.html?m=1 I hate to admit that I cry, but I did.

Thank you Carmen. Love you.

Also huge thanks to people who left a review on Amazon. I was so excited I nearly peed.

Second, some questions and a few declarations.

I have new respect for all of you indie authors. I have been writing and publishing for years under a couple of different pseudonyms and have always had a publishing house behind me. Even when I put out some previous “indie” novels, I had other people working on promoting and covers and such. I didn’t do it all…

From Amazon Book Description:
A poetic journey of love in the face of enforced separation. A collection of love poetry, and verse reflecting the angst felt when two are destined to be one, then forced to live a half-life constantly traversing the ocean. A roller coaster ride of emotional highs and lows.

My review: Five out of five stars

Reading this collection of poems made me feel like I was eavesdropping on the world’s most romantic marriage proposal. It was quite evident that they were written by plumbing the depths of Julian’s soul. The expression of emotions was tender and loving. And heartfelt. If you are looking for love poems to share with your own lover, these are just the poems.

The poems were arranged in such a way that they progressed over time with the time apart illustrating the agony. My favorite poem I think was “When…
