Day 2 of the Poetic Proposal Blog Tour.

So, after yesterday’s flying start, next up on the vaunted ‘A Poetic Proposal’ blog tour is Pamela Beckford

As is only correct and proper, and just plain good manners, I would like to express my thanks and appreciation to Pamela for taking part. She has always been incredibly supportive and encouraging about my writing and also on a personal level, for which I am eternally grateful.

Pamela is a poet, and a very good one. In fact she is one of my favourites. Pamela has released a number of poetry collections, both alone, and in collaboration. I particularly like ‘Dreams of Love’. Check out this and her other published works here.

Pamela’s blog can be found at Poetry by Pamela. This is a great place to experience her beautiful works of poetry, and also to see everything else that she does to help promote others.

You should all visit her blog post haste!

Thank you again Pamela for taking part today and for your constant support.

Here is my interview with Pamela Beckford

Great interview with one of my favourite poets. Check it out.

Name Pamela Beckford
Age Not as old as dirt, but closer than I would like
Where are you from – northern Indiana
A little about your self `ie your education Family life etc
I have never left my hometown, a small rural community in northern Indiana. It was a great place to raise my daughter. Of course, she wasted no time in leaving and moving to a large city. Sigh. I have an adorable five year old grandson. I know everyone says that, but really he is adorable. He actually has done some modelling (it helps that my daughter is a fashion designer and has been able to expose him to many photographers).

Fiona: Tell us your latest news?
I published my third book in July this year. What an exciting adventure this has been.

Fiona: When and why did you begin writing?
I started writing poetry about 18 months…

Love: Lost and Found by Pamela Beckford

Love Lost and FoundLove: Lost and Found by Pamela Beckford

Description from Goodreads

Love: Lost and Found is filled with poems reflecting the phases of love. There are poems of longing and pain and poems of exhilaration and joy. A collection of over 90 poems representing over 10 different forms of poetry (including descriptions of those forms).

I gave this book five stars out of five

My thoughts:

Pamela Beckford’s latest collection of love poetry, ‘Love: Lost and Found’, is a veritable treasure chest of gems.

I enjoyed this volume immensely. There was an incredible depth of passion evident, and the wide variety of styles and techniques just added to the view that love is a multi-faceted emotion, as evoked by the content of the poems themselves.

I would recommend this to anyone, whether or not you usually read poetry. There will be something in here for you even if you do not consider yourself a ‘poetry reader’.

Alone (double cinquain)

Alone
So incomplete
Gazing at the moonlight
Wondering just when you’ll be here
Nearby
With me
To start our lives
Never to leave again
Becoming whole and not just half
As one

Pamela has written a second collection of love poems. Poetry is an expression from deep within the soul. It can be therapeutic and healing. It can bring out all the best or the worst in life. Her poetry comes from the heart, not the head. It is an outpouring of emotion and she exposes it to the reader in the pages. Love: Lost and Found contains over 90 poems representing over a dozen different forms of poetry. The poems span the angst and despair of love lost to the exhilaration and ecstasy of a deep abiding love.

Love: Lost and Found has already received a five star review that says

“Pamela Beckford writes with her heart as much as her mind. She makes me feel things when I read her work that usually stay buried beneath the surface. Her way of expressing emotions that usually aren’t captured for later evaluation is amazing.

I also enjoy that she uses a lot of different styles and forms of poetry in her collections, making the book varied and interesting. Some are shorter and some longer, but all of them carefully constructed. Her ability to say so much in so few words is a indication of her talent as a writer.

If you are looking for an excellent poetry book, look no further.”

Pamela’s other books have also garnered some great reviews and both are available on Kindle or paperback as well.

Season of Love (tanka)

First there is summer,
Followed by fall, winter, spring
But lest we forget
The season of love appears
Bringing hope for all lost souls

Ionia, I love you

Extremely important information. Make sure you read this, and this. And of the course the title of this post is so apropos, although I tend to favour ‘I love you, Ionia’, a phrase I consider to be the most perfect phrase in all the universe.

Soul Sisters (dodoitsu/reverse dodoitsu)

Friends may come and friends may go

But you aren’t just any friend

You’ve become my soul sister

We laugh together

We cry together

Life is better with you here

I don’t want to imagine

A world without you in it

Ionia is my best girlfriend and I am very concerned about her – but she and I both want all of you to know the signs of an impending heart attack or stroke. Here are a few resources you should be familiar with. It does not discriminate by age, race or gender. Know the signs of heart attack and stroke. Cover Reveal for Love: Lost and Found

Check out the cover of Pam’s forthcoming poetry collection. What a wonderful cover this is.

Poetry by Pamela

I’m so excited about the cover for my new book. I know I’ve been talking about this for quite a while now, but it is all coming together very quickly now.

I had a friend help me by photoshopping some images together to create the picture. He was great at coming up with exactly what I could see in my head (and trust me, that is no easy thing to do). And then I have another friend (she is actually someone who does most of the graphic design work for me at work) who created the final cover. I think they did a great job.

I am hoping to have this ready to publish on Kindle this week and then available in paperback within a couple of weeks.

Please share this cover and help me promote my latest poetry collection.

As One (etheree)

A beautiful poem by one of my favourite poets, Pam. Written for Ionia and me. Thank you so very much, Pam 🙂

Make love with me

Tell me you love me for e’er and a day

Written for my two favorite people Ionia and Julian – Their happiness spills over and makes me happy.
